Where do I even start? This is the question I’ve been asking myself lately. In a recent post, I mentioned that I’ve written a couple of books and self-publishing seems like a good route. Except with self-publishing comes with a lot of upfront costs.
If I put my work out there, I want it to be the best it can. That means proper editing, cover art, formatting, the whole nine yards. Where do self-published authors get the funds to make their work great? I know about CreateSpace and some other companies that help but I feel like there is still so much more to learn before I dive in.
I’m taking it one task at a time, learning a little bit each day. I find it easy to become overwhelmed with the whole process. Here are some things I’m going to do along the way.
- Stay organized. I ordered a new planner to schedule time to write and what my goals are for the week.
- Staying connected. There’s a lot of information on social media with lots of helpful tools and hints. I finally created a Twitter account.
- Writing! The most important is to keep working on my projects and write.
- Read more! Yes, I’ve been guilty of this. Less Netflix more reading. I recently purchased a new Kindle since my old one crapped out. With summer pretty much gone I can now be a hermit.
