Writing Diary – July

For the first time in months, it’s been good in my writing life. I also finished a rough draft for a book that takes place in New Orleans. I started it before my trip there, but purposely held off because I knew I’d have more material when I got home. Researching a place and seeing it are two different things. I was able to add small details in the book I wouldn’t have known unless I visited. Especially when it comes to the food. 🙂

It’s a romance novel, which is something new to me. I don’t want to be stuck with one genre because I enjoy them all. There’s several new books I’m reading and may do another Books I’m Reading post soon.

I’m staying positive and know the process doesn’t happen overnight. I can only focus on my journey and improve my craft.

Hope everyone else is having a good month! Let me know what projects you’re working on. writer

Diving Back In

I did it! This weekend I got back in the groove and wrote more than I initially thought. It took me a long time, but I finished it. I’m trying to find a happy medium of being a writer and having an average life.

I think time off did me well. I’ve been catching errors that I didn’t before. My novel had a  lot of unnecessary fluff. It’s a work in progress that I’ll keep chipping away at.

How is everyone else doing with their current projects?

Life Changes

It’s crazy how many things happen within a few months. I haven’t posted in quite a while and that’s because there’s been changes in my life.

In April, I left to New Orleans on vacation and came back engaged! It was a surprise and the past few months have been very busy with wedding planning and work. I now have a few of the important planning details taken care of, so I feel like there is a resting period. I’ve always been told planning a wedding takes a lot of time but never realized it until now.

Aside from that, there has been some writer’s block, which I have been trying to get over and finding motivation to write. I have a lot of material but am not sure what to do with it at this point.

All other excused aside, tonight I will sit down, butt in chair and write for the first time in months. Wish me luck!
